Learn how to choose the perfect size for your Choose Your Destiny art print. This guide covers wall dimensions, viewing distance, and framing tips to help you make the right decision.
Quick answer
For a Choose Your Destiny art print, start by measuring your wall space and considering the viewing distance. A good rule is to pick a size that fills 60-75% of the available wall area for a balanced look.
Why size matters for your wall art
The size of your art print directly affects how it feels in a room. A print that's too small can look lost on a large wall, while an oversized one might overwhelm a cozy space. Getting the size right ensures your Choose Your Destiny print becomes a focal point that enhances your decor.
Measuring your wall and considering layout
Before you choose a size, measure the width and height of the wall where you plan to hang the print. Also, note any furniture or architectural features nearby. For example, above a sofa, the print should be about two-thirds the width of the sofa. In a hallway, consider the distance from which people will view it.
Decision rules for choosing your print size
- Measure your wall space: Use a tape measure to find the width and height of the area you want to fill. Subtract a few inches from each side for breathing room.
- Consider viewing distance: For a print viewed from 3-5 feet away (like above a desk), choose a smaller size. For distances over 6 feet (like across a living room), go larger.
- Match the print to the wall proportion: Aim for the print to cover about 60-75% of the wall width. For example, a 4-foot wide wall works well with a 24-30 inch wide print. If you're unsure, a medium size is often the safest bet for most walls.
- Think about framing: Account for the frame width when measuring. A thick frame adds 2-4 inches to the overall dimensions, so choose a print size that leaves room for the frame.
